wow this cool for some reason i thought it would be hard to get a tune for mine since they dont have them out of the box really but having a shop write one isnt really that expensive. also, if you get a tune on a programer and tune your truck to the new program, you can set it to factory tune again right?

You can. Like the tuner I have can hold 3 tunes, factory, and 2 custom ones. If you ever decide to go back to stock, you can load the factory tune back on it. It is a very simple thing. I thought it was going to be a difficult thing but it is plug, 2-3 clicks and done! I was amazed at the whole thing dude! The tunes written for me were 75.00 and I only have one custom tune. If you decide to buy one from Franchi, I'll hook you up with the shop that did mine
oh sweet! yea if i do ill let you know, if they just email the tune i guess i dont have to be near you lol theres not alot of shops close by/that i know are good.
I know what you mean. The shop I used emailed it to me and it only took 3 days. I was very impressed by it all!
wow thats nice! i did some research and for say a performance tune on my 4 cyl i would probably only see a 5-10 hp gain tops.. but that aside, would a performance tune on say 91 octane get same or better mileage than stock?
I'm not too sure on that, I know it is specific to the octane they write in so it could be. I didnt see a big difference in HP or MPG's but I can tell you the engine runs and sounds smoother since.
I dont think you should look at it that way as far as gaining. Think of it as fine tuning the engine, plus you have a code reader for check engine light diagnoses
yea i guess, too bad you couldnt get a nice hp gain though, idk if i could justify it but ill mull it over
Sorry, just saw this. It really depends on which diesel you get. Like a SCT 3015 will work on the Ranger ( with a custom tune ) and a diesel ( not both at once, only one at a time as once you use it to custom tune a car, it becomes vin locked to that particular vehicle until you restore the stock tune back to it ) and should work on most diesels except the 08 to 2010 6.4 if I recall as they have completely different programming. But the majority of the most popular 6.0 and 7.3 it would work on as well. Let me know any questions, thanks!
