The new Custom 4x4 Fabrication Ranger rear bumper project is almost finished.
The new brackets are on their way and it will be the last thing needed to make it fit correctly and then on to painting.
I was thinking Line-X but not right now, so I am thinking Black, easy color, easy choice right, NOT !

I am going to paint my bumper.
A friend will professionally spray both the front and back bumper inside and out.
Start with a DuPont Professional Metal Etching Primer, then I want to spray it black, my dilemma is what level of gloss to make it.

    1) Glossy as he!!

    2) Semi-Gloss, so someone will thing I just didn’t polish it

    3) Flat, there is no polishing

    4) Somewhere in between - please specify

Tthere is also the Line-X thing BUY I am in a Better Business Dispute with them and I don’t think I will get a good job done.

i like the semi-gloss, flat kinda looks like it was primed black and then someone forgot to paint it. super glossy will look too show-y and be high maintaince. semi-gloss will give it a tough industrial look, without looking unfinished.

No updates on the actual painting.

We had to do a redo on the rear bumper brackets.
The daughter got married, I have spent the last month or so in SoCal with the house/wife/daughter, and one of the in-laws passing so I have not had much time to play with the truck.
While home I worked on the shed I build last fall, just needs trimming but that is almost done.

Next is selling this house, wether the Temecula, CA house is ready or not and then the move to California.

BUT back to painting, I got an estimate on powder Costing, front and rear bumpers and my back rack, prep’d and painted for $500.
To me that isn’t a bad price so I need to get going and at least get them painted before heading west.

A local guy wants $350 to finish prime and finish paint them but that is after sand blasting and me doing the prep work, sounds like the Powder Coating guy is the way to go.

As far as color it will be black but thinking a semi gloss or flat, it will not be gloss and one of the guys here on the site suggested a monochromatic color scheme, who knows, E-4 RED, might work.

    thanks for asking / ltr.
