  3. Better than what I'd be starting out at if I had a degree. It is a lot, because I think my mom only makes maybe $18 an hour working for the state after 5 years?

dude if you had a degree you would be making closer to 20 an hour...just stay in school dude

  5. No I wouldn't. My dad has a degree. He started out at $10 an hour with no benefits at his current job. I would rather be doing something that I'm happy with making just enough money to get me by, than hating my job and making barely more.

  6. stay in school or go to a trade tech school, there are big bucks if you get into the right trade, not only doctors and lawyers have the big bucks!

  7. To add to the poor pay, you sometimes have to move away from your comfort zones to follow the big $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
another state that is into more advanced technology

  8. Stonemasons are a rising demand trade right now... I want to get into landscaping because I love working around plants. You should see my dorm, I have a ton of plants here and there were more until I had to bring them home because I was running out of room

im prolly gonna be going back to school here

  10. Horticulture is a good field too, but that does take a degree, not sure about an arborist however I would think it requires a degree too
so if you like plants and trees stay in school

pretty much everything you need a degree for these days

  12. Not going to guys. It's the hard truth. I want to go work hard for my money and work my way up in life, not fall directly into a position and six digit incomes immediately. It's kinda my code of honor, work hard and earn everything

  14. I went to a 2 year trade /tech school. Major appliance technician no college cause it was not right for me, but then I graduated in 1981 and started my own business as everyone has appliances. So it worked out well for me, I also did some work at McDonnell Douglas, but that was before they wanted degrees . I just hope you dont take it wrong, people here are only wanting to see you advance Pete and if college is not for you then do a tech/trade school , hell certified welders out here are making 25.00 per hour plus, and a friend of mine is a school bus mechanic working for a school district , started pay for him was around 50 k per year . so there are other choices, school is not for everyone

  15. No lol Landscaping or construction

  17. come on over to my house, the backyard needs to be landscaped and I need someone with a strong back to shovel my rock and move it, if you come out you can swim in the pool! But I only pay the guys out here 8 bucks per hour for that type of work

  18. did I say school, I meant skoal hahahah

  19. My buddy's dad is a welder, Freemans00 can vouch for me on this. He has a degree in welding and just turned down a $40/hour job with the local power company building another Nuke plant. I might go for that, automotive technician, something maybe along those lines, Idk yet. I need time to think. I'm only 18 now, and have years ahead of me yet. So I have more than enough time to go back and do something. I just need to get out there and make some money so I can have my truck fixed and live a happy and fulfilling life. I like to be able to make things and be able to call it my own, and be proud of it. That's why I love landscaping. I can see it whenever I want, and can say to myself and others, "I did that", or "I helped create that". Know what I mean? I know you guys are trying to help me out by this, but this is the path I want to take. This is one of those times where I have to choose between two paths, and find out what lies ahead.

  20. I understand completley.
