Strobes

Forgive me if there's already a thread about em. My "smart phone" isn't cooperating with the search bar. Anyone know of good quality strobe lights that I can get for a reasonable price? I've been looking into a few things lately including BTM's module that he just installed, and a full on strobe light kit for heads/tails on LEDGlow.com. What would be a good option for getting the strobe effect without dumping $500 into a set of legit emergency strobes?

If you want the look of strobes without the big price tag, you may consider something like these led strobes:
ledpanelsswitchbox.jpg

That's a kit I modded for someone who wanted to connect them to his reverse lights & to a switch in the bed so they'll come on with the reverse lights or via the switch... not as strobes, just regular led lighting.

They're actually pretty bright, although the selection of strobe functions can be limited to just 1 or 2 patterns.
On the plus side, they're not that expensive.

I just ordered something similar with smaller led strobe panels that I'm going to mod for reverse lights mounted under the rear roof rack whenever I get them mounted.

I've been playing around with those led strobes in red, white, blue & yellow for a couple years now. You can also get the strobe modules to mod for use with led strips or other led's for a more hidden or custom approach.

I was liking BTM 757's setup that he had with the STT module he put in. That's what I was thinking of doing. Is there something I can get to make the headlights flash too? Or would a cheapo ten dollar set of strobes work?

you can get a module to let the headlights wig wag back (illuminate back and forth), but if you have HIDs i'd advise against that. also look at strobesnmore.com. a few buddies of mine have gotten stuff from there

No HIDs for me. My off road lights are brighter than them lol I can get a cheap set of strobes for show for $10the at the local autoparts store, but they wouldn't really match up with the flash of the tails

Mac, took a look at strobesnmore... More expensive than the kit from ledglow. But they do have a six bulb kit which I wouldn't mind getting for $211 I believe. Gotta save up over the summer.

Link? Brad, no. I'm not. But I'm always stopping on the side of the road for people and the blacked out tails and lightbar aren't sufficient enough to attract attention.

No, dont, scott had them in his truck, on his tinted tails you couldnt even see them really, if your going strobes to make yourself more noticeable you need to go at least 25 watt bulbs. That strobe pack draws 5 amps, those are probably 9 watts per bulb, ( I know they say 60 watt, but thats the input power they are probably capable of)

This is my truck and scotts truck side by side with his, when he had his headlights on, the fronts were barely noticeable.

Ignore my dumbass brother at the end.
These are a much more reasonable way to go.

or if you want to go LED light heads mounted on the light bar you can do these.

The LED glow ones are 60 watts. I like the 90 watt ones from AWL. I might save up for them or ask for them from my girlfriend for my birthday

Ive seen them first hand, the LED glow ones are not worth the trouble, they are strictly for car shows only, comparing them to the AWL ones would be like taking a tonka truck toy to do a front loaders job, With tinted tails you wont see them, and if your going for stuff like that, you want to be seen. The AWL is def the better buy, also, I've got buddies that have stuff of theirs, they have a awesome customer service and are quick to help.

Might want to see about laws for them too, because even though you may only have them in the rear, you may still need a permit to operate them, but thats your decision if you want to look into that

Dont come to jersey and use them on the parkway/turnpike when you get them then, troopers will kill you without the right permits, lol

I'm from out of state. They have to go by the laws of the state the truck's registered in.
Thats just for the points that are put on your license, fines and violations are still taken care of by state that your stopped in. For jersey drivers, any out of state violation is automatically 2 points on your license, unless otherwise stated.
