Here is the build for the on-board-air.

    The 5 gallon air tank

Brackets welded to the frame and the tank bolted to that.

I put in an oiler I got on eBay for $4 and have the inlet to the compressor ran into the air filter box

Here is the outlet that goes to a check valve then to a manifold block that has a gauge, front air line, safty valve, pressure switch 90psi on 120psi off, and then a 3/8 hose that runs to the tank in the back

The pressure switch wires go to the a/c pressure switch wires that I cut off.
So this way I can turn on the compressor with the a/c switch on the dash and also this way I can utilize the factory relay for the a/c compressor clutch

Here is a finished pic of the tank

    I have a fitting here...

    ...and here

It will fill the tank at idle from 0-120psi in about 40-50 seconds. Not to bad and all I invested was about $50 or so :headbang:

Actually, if you don't use AC or if your truck is a deticated wheeler. Thats extremely cool! Awesome idea and great write up.

It's been in the works for awhile now. Im using a viair 12V compressor. Check valve comes with it. All I need is the tanks and the lines and I'll be done. I'll have about 250 all said and done in it.

  7. This would be an awesome addition to any truck that's used for work, wheeling, etc... Makes things ridiculously easier when you're out on the trails and you need to fix something. Haha.

Not sure on the part number for the check valve. I got it off eBay and no longer have the receipt for it. I do know it was 1/2" npt. I used the stock lines/hoses from the a/c.

    This is the check valve.

The bottom line is the pressure side. The top is the inlet.

The hose on top with the hose clamps is the inlet for the compressor. This hose comes from the evap box.

The ac didn't work when I bought the truck and it just made since to convert it instead of paying $400+ for all new ac parts.

Great concept and idea! Can you elaborate on the install, parts needed, tools etc? I can list it in the how to section then once it is complete
