some people

I moved here to South Dakota from Connecticut. And I guess the rules are different. I put my truck in 4 wheel low, and was cautiously driving down an unmarked heavily wooded trail (no do not enter - or no trespassing signs), when I hit a 2 ton concrete block covered in weeds. It ruptured my front brake lines, and broke the bolts that secure my steering box to the frame.
After talking to some coworkers about it, turns out I got lucky. Some of the landowners will dig 7 foot deep holes and let the weeds grow in so you will completely demolish your truck. They will sometimes put razor wire and other treasures in the holes.
Seems to me like a no trespassing sign would have been cheaper.
But at the same time, one lesson I will take from this; is to walk any trail first. Oh yeh, and buy myself a good skid plate :)

better watch out for the bear traps if on foot, there are some (5150 ) people out there.

oh, the 5150 is in hooligan language = police code for crazy or mentally disturbed

back in the saddle

Well, I got her back together this weekend. Removed the steering box, and extracted the busted bolts. Ran all new front brake lines, reinstalled the steering box. Put a new power steering return line in, and she's good to go again.
This little 90 Ranger with the 2.9 litre is fun to drive

the beating

Should I take some pictures of the beating, and post them to the Ranger Photos?
The landowner might look good with some busted brake line wrapped around his neck laying in his front yard while I do donuts around him....
A little attitude adjustment is good for the soul....

shut it down

Actually.....I think the coolest thing I could do would be; to go back there tomorrow (now that my truck is fixed), put it in 4 wheel low, hook a chain to the obstruction, and drag it to the front of the trail.
That would at least protect my fellow 4-wheelers.
My 16 year old son and I revisited the site today (and walked it), that concrete was hidden pretty well.
I'll be doing something about it..........
For today, all I did was a pretty good 4 wheel rooster tail exiting the trail....
Then my son said "this truck needs a name"...
That might be a good question for the group.....name the 90 white ranger...*LOL*..."slow sperm" comes to mind.....(but I think he was hoping for something cooler).....

So I went wheelin the other day in an area I was unfamiliar with. I was driving down a trail when I came to a giant hole dug in the middle of the trail. WTF! Why do people do this s%#t? Good thing I was cautious or I would have been in a bit of trouble.
