Finally got my '98 4.0l auto running again. Vehicle used to live east of Chicago where they put some sort of brine on the road and are, apparently, against undercoating. (It's common to see a 10 year old vehicle that's rusted thru in the rear wheel wells.
So I've had various issues due to serious rust.
    The latest was transmission lines.
Due to the necessity to perform any work in my driveway, and health issues, it took a lot longer to accomplish.
Started the vehicle yesterday and now have 3 new problems:
    1) No brakes. Chances are I've lost another line.
    2) Engine throttle doesn't want to return to idle. (A bad combination without brakes. I'm assuming the throttle body has gotten gummy. (Same thing happened to my '89)
    3) No headlights.

In other words life is just so much fun atm.

#2. Clean your IAC (idler air control) it is cylinder thing on the air intake.
#3. Since you are in the toughest part of the country, I would make sure the plugs to the light socket are clean as well as checking for the burnt fuse.
