Hi! i have a 2004 ford ranger just a around 138,000 miles. I drove 20 minutes to work, no issues started fine, took my break and drove around after three hours, also totally fine. finished my shift a few hours later and it wouldn’t start ! My dad came out and we replaced the battery (partly because i needed a new one anyway likely, and partly because when he jumped it it shot sparks out like fireworks). Even after the battery, it still won’t start. the lights go on, the fans turn on , but the actual part where the truck runs won’t kick in. Any ideas what this might be ? I definitely need new terminals because they got trashed in the whole explosive sparks situation, but we’re also beginning to rot due to corrosion. Is this a starter issue? alternator? I’m just wondering what i might be in for at the mechanic and what cost i might encounter . TIA!
