What are the best options for cylinder heads on a 2.3l? I have seen a couple different casting numbers that claim to be compatible, then what's the difference? Just asking for general info on which head to choose, reputable brands if anyone can recommend one

I don't know about 2.3 casting numbers, but I've heard that the 2.5 in my '98 is just a stroked 2.3.
When they stroked the engine, Ford decided to port the existing head and install larger valves and seats, too.
While I've never done this, I've also heard that as long as your engine is a "Lima" 2.3 and not a Duratec, it should be a straight swap.
So if you're looking to hot rod your 2.3, apparently, a 2.5 head will be a step in the right direction.
