If they say
I don't need a trouble code to tell me I have a miss.
If mechanics are telling me to change my plugs..about 45 bucks...I'd change my plugs...and even go crazy and do wires as well 80 bucks..unless it has coil packs...which would give a different code.
I saw 9+ people looked at...
If you notice the nut in center of last picture...then go in from there. you can see a cynlinder shape..this is where the bottom bolt for the radius arm threads into. After it was all back together and during 4x4 testing this cyclinder broke loose. This allowed the radius arm to move anytime the...
Axle continued
I needed to replace the yoke as the old axle and the yoke were worn out.
There was nothing left of the inside of the yoke. worn smooth no splines at all. I didn't take any more pictures of this process..because it is a lot of work getting the diff out in order to remove the...

Here are more pix of the process of removing the front axles.

Over the weekend I replace u-joints and slip yoke in the front axle of 97 Ranger 4x4 took some pix. First got the truck up and secured on jack stand and rear wheels blocked. I then removed wheels and warn locking hubs. then the brake mounting bracket..left the caliper bolted on (one less thing...

I had a truck with a bad seal, the body fell off before the engine gave out.
Just remember to check the oil and keep it up in the full area on the stick.
I checked every other fill up.
11000 miles seem a little early. Lots...
The yoke is toast, I found a yard that sold me the entire right side of the axle/w diff..etc for 150. so I will be doing the hole deal..maybe a limited slip diff included.
Will post pix.
Does anyone know how to tighten up the steering gear.
There is supposed to be a lock nut you loosen and then you can tighten up the lash in the gear box. This is on a 97 Ranger.
I lean toward a lifter for your tick..I thinkiing either there is some chunk built up a keep oil from flowing properly. most likely because it doesn't do it all the time. Maybe try an oil treatment like lucas run it a while then flush.
Gear shifting problem could be air as said before...Another...
Removed the axle to hardly any groves left on the end of the shaft.
I got a new (used) axle from the yard. Replaced the U-joint and installed the new axle. (twice) first time got it in and checked it out seemed fine. Test drive went well for a while then there was a bang and no more front...
