    '98 4.0l that's been sitting awhile.

Finally got my '98 4.0l auto running again. Vehicle used to live east of Chicago where they put some sort of brine on the road and are, apparently, against undercoating. (It's common to see a 10 year old vehicle that's rusted thru in the rear wheel wells. So I've had various issues due to...

    A4 to C4 tranny swap

All help forums, on various sites, say one way to connect a 2.9 block to a c4 tranny is to use a C5 bellhousing. My A4 has gone belly-up for the third time so I'm making this swap. (I only have about 60k on the 2.9 rebuild or I'd swap engine and tranny both.) I have one question: Do I need a...

    coolant ok?

Coolant breaks down over time due to heat and impurities in the engine block and peripherals; radiator, water pump, heater core, etc. It may look okay and may not freeze up on you but it most probably has lost any lubricating qualities it once had. Unfortunately I know of no way the common man...

    '89 2.9 power issue.

'89 2.9 with about 40k on bottom end and less than 2k on top end. Blew a head gasket at 73k and Ford put a long block in (100k mile bumper to bumper warranty.)*1 Here's the issue: Got everything back together and drove it for roughly 1000 miles in mixed conditions. Starts fine, runs smooth and...

Need to rebuild engine or do motor swap

I would suggest calling/emailing a couple of decent salvage yards. They usually have complete listings of what engine fits what year, etc. You mentioned working on Taurus SHOs. This might be a blessing in disguise. You may be able to get something more along the line of what you would have liked...

    inertia switch location

You can look at my profile album to see what it looked like last winter... I was 500 miles from home and forced to have a local "recommended" body shop do the work. Turns out the recommendation was second hand and the guy turned out to be an a-hole. Tuttle Autobody, Moline IL. Stay Away from...

    inertia switch location

Next thing I'll try is powering the fuel pump directly and seeing if the engine will run. Other than a continuity issue, which is highly unlikely, I am at a loss.

    inertia switch location

NO, tried a new one, checked the old one and bipassed the relay altogether. No change. Somewhere in the starting cycle it will pump for a second or 2. Otherwise it's getting no voltage.

    inertia switch location

(I know there is another thread similar to this but was unsure whether to reply to it or start a new one.) I have an '89 Ranger Extended Cab, 2.9, auto. It was totaled last year. I have driven it about 500 miles since the frame was straightened. After finishing it for a title inspection...
