you are the one with that has/had the backrack right?

will be getting one, since i keep hauling **** and leaning it on the roof since its to long. So i need a backrack so i dont keep scratching my roof.

will it work with how my action packer is set up? or will the cross bar block the grey lid from opening? If you need a better angle, lemme know!

I need to prevent this from happening.

    • You wouldn't have those marks if you used something between your cab and your load (I use 3" thick soft foam that I keep in my toolbox for such occasions). But you already know that, and I'm an eh-hole.

    • They've got a bunch of different names....Cab Guard, Headache Rack, Back Rack, Window Cage, etc/blahblahblah. Use all those terms if you intend to find a used one.

    • Your toolbox thing: it depends on the rack and how's it's constructed. Pro-Tech brand like what I've got has a diamond plate strip the entire width between the angle "iron" (it's aluminum) rail mounts. Your box appears to open up sideways? Or similar to an ice chest that hinges no the skinny side. You should be fine if you move the box back a little bit. I can get a better picture of my rack when it's light out if you'd like....but this is all I've got right meow to show you...

    • Would be cheaper and a hell of alot easier to have one made for you out of steel.

Any more questions, feel free to ask.

Hope I helped and we know "The Boss" will chime in. Hopefully his jeans aren't too tight.....his key strokes might be a little on the small side... LOL

Yes it depends on the brand of rack as to if it will work or not.

    Hence, the title.... BACKRACK.

Lmao. That's the brand, an he had/has one. That's why I was asking him specifically.
    But thanks for the pics.

Hooligan's rack is a ProTech Cab Rack not a "BackRack" which is another brand of RACK.

Also, Hooligan's is for a Steppie.

FX4Wannabe has a ProTech also but for a Styleside bed, one is wider than the other.

If you are going to be carrying long pieces, make sure to get one that has the height you need to clear the roof and has some sort for side bars to tie to and to stop any sliding off.

That's why I asked in my original post if it was him that had one. As I wasn't sure.

Someone here has one, I swear. but I guess I was wrong with the who lol

So the idea of a private message had never crossed your mind???

I am aware of the brand BackRack and their half ass construction and styling cues.

i have the backrack safty rack and it isnt bad at all, not a fan of the ugly two bar and loops back rack one

I have the backtrack now and added upper loops.
I had to mod the lower bar to fit the Steppie bed.
I need to add one more mod and mount it up AGAIN !

I've carried ladders and long steel tubing and long pieces of wood without a problem.
ProTech seems to be more prevalent in the NW and the Back Racks are more around the NE, funny.

Nope. Because this forum has low activity. The more posts the better. Unless they are posts by an *******.

    Hint hint.....

Safety Rack isn't that bad...looks good. I had forgotten there were a couple different BackRack brand racks. The other one, the BackRack, is what I was referencing in the post you quoted.

So you make a post specifically for someone (Clinton/Hooligan), yet because it's a newer, lower activity forum, you posted it publicly and get butthurt when someone other than Clinton chimes in with info? Seems legit.

    I'm a what??

I wish you the best of luck getting rid of me.

Whoa...I made it a bit too late here lol. The one I have for sale is for a Stepside bed only. They do make them for standard beds though and will help to avoid the roof scratches.

The ProTech Racks are nice and pricey and if they made one that was as wide as the styleside and tapered in for a steppie I would run one.
I sold my steppie ProTech to Clinton and he took it to the next level with cleaning and powder coating, it is a nice rack.

I too think the Back Rack is a little weak but with a little patients you can add some steel and make it a very rugged rack.

Clinton has a nice Rack, lol, and worth the money; just check the web and see what these things cost new.
