So lately I have been a little busy, but I have installed a black mustang dome, installed new speakers in the doors, replaced my jbl gto 5x7s with infinity ref 6x8s. I acquired a 60 40 black seat set from an 03 ranger edge. How ever they didn't come with a flip down console. Should I reuphoster my previous one ( I would rebuild the top lid, it was broken of course. Or should I cut my 60 down to a 40 ( buckets) and get a expo full length. And does anyone have any more simple interior mods. I've changed my seat belts to black to match the seats. Done the throttle cable mod. Any ideas?

    Hey Alpine_ e,
    How’s this going ?
not sure on your year Ranger but my 03 had removable track, they just unbolted for an easy mod.
Instead of cutting down your 60/40 check out the driver’s seat, the extended part is a frame that just unbolted from mine.
I took off the back of the seat and then the console, then the extension, not sure what yours will be like but check it out.

Also, think about this… if your seats have tracks that unbolt or you can make something up that bolt together here is something that is cool.
The passenger side seat (full bucket) is the same as the driver’s side seat bottom.
Both seat Pan (the part that holds the foam) have holes on both side of them so they can be interchanged side to side or in Ford’s case one seat is made and fits either side no guessing.
If your tracks unbolt, find a passenger seat similar to your and swap your driver’s side tracks for the passenger side track and walla, you have a driver’s side bucket side.
If both seats have the bolt on tracks there is no mod’g just some wrenching.
I interchanged my backs too, the backs on my passenger’s side seat was far better than the buckets I got so I used my seat back on the bucket seats.
The driver’s buckets I got had the lumbar support so I left that alone.

As far as seat covers there are people on this site that make REALLY GOOD seat covers, well made, good stitching and high quality material. I can get the Web Addie for you if you need it or you can search on seat covers and look for Terry.

Once you get the Seat done consider a short Explorer Console.
The full length are nice and can be done but I found the shortie leaves room for things in front of the console, like a CB or small scanner even a box of Kleanex is needed.

Only problem with the short consoles are the lid supports, they are made of plastic and they DO CRACK but there is a replacement lid support from Rock Auto, again search the site for details.

OK I have used up my dime and a dollar or two I hope some of this helps.

Good luck with the truck and all of the mods, there is a lot you can do.

Thanks, certainly a lot to think about concerning the seats, I cut my old 60/40 down with a sawzall, and stitched it up, looked real nice.
And I think I just like the look of the full length. And as for the cb, id just mount it to my amp rack in the back of my ext.cab. Ill check out rockauto, heard a bunch of good things about them

    Excellent advice!

I think our Moderator Buggman can recommend some interior lighting mods you can do by switching it all to LED lights. The LED's he has are cheap in price and hold up better than the OEM stuff!

Gauge cluster, headlight switch, 4x4 & fog switches, hvac panel, dome light, glove box light, 3rd brake light.... light that puppy up

Also check out partsgeek.com for replacement parts. I've ordered a few things from them & they have good stuff & reasonable prices.

OK on cutting it up but something more to thing about IF you happen to be in a JY and find some nice seats. Also some like the full length console, some build their own, some like me stick to the easier route and get shorty consoles.

Some have taken the full length consoles to the max… Bob, has done his up with all of the electronics and climate controls, it looks really good.
As it goes it is your call, your truck, luck with the project and get pictures along the way.

Is the full length console a PITA to put in? What mods are required to put it in

I have never put one in but have tried to take two out.
There are a lot of clips and I cracked both of them.

I would think, although not easy it shouldn't be a major problem with the install; time and take it easy...

    alpine_earthquakes,

How are you doing on the interior mods ?

Just noticed you haven’t posted anything on it.

Pictures if you have them ?
