i hear ya scott my escort had manual everything...after having the power goodies on my ranger i cant go back lol...hell my tbird has manual everything and its a PITA lol
as much as I like certain luxuries I cant see myself go back to carpet interiors and I havent seen one leather interior I liked so cloth seats and vinyl floors for me. Other then that I am a fan of power group (minus sunroof cause i like my headroom) AC and the biggest stereo i can fit factory
no turbo for me, I am more of a fan of cubic inch rather then potential fuel economy. 5L for this guy. I dont see the whole hype of having 4x4. Owned my truck almost 2 years and never felt like I needed 4x4 even in canadian winters. I just need better tires (they slip even in the mildest rain) but to each is own I like the fx2 a lot
IIRC the ecoboost has only 5 hp more and although the 3.5L ecoboost does have a lot more torque what happens once the turbos have reached their peak, then all you have is a 3.5L v6 at heart. I rather have a smooth, more simple V8. I dont have to worry about lag (however small), turbo reliability, intercooler reliability, abysmal real world MPG while under stress. Yes the 3.5L has better EPA MPG but in the real world it fails to deliver especially under constant towing.
um no...FX4 or bust, must have a transfer case and you are right rango, i would not want to replace a turbo after warranty period
ecoboost is 365hp and 420ft torque. 5.0 is 360hp and 380 ft torque. but if youve ridden in one you'd want one! ehh they pull like a boss all the way, i think once they get the kinks out with the intercoolers itl be unstoppable. *cough*beast*cough* [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epkCVPH1iRY"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epkCVPH1iRY[/ame] towing my grandpa in his can still run over 16-17mpg easy iirc, its alot of kinks to be worked out but id say its my pick over the 5.0. DONT HATE SINCE ITS A V6!!! lol lol yea id like a 4x4 and 2wd, but i like the paint schemes and color matched bumpers and such with the fx2/fx4s didnt they just have problems with intercoolers getting moisture or condensation inside? saw that on f150forum
I`m sure i wouldnt want an ecboost, i am an open minded kinda of guy (go to my fullsize thread) but there are things that I never want. 1- an automatic transmission (especially in sports cars or economical underpowered cars) 2-CVTs I hate how they drone and offer fake gears (especially when they offer a manumatic option when theres no gears) 3-Turbos or superchargers when a large displacement engine can get the job done I put function and reliability before anything. As its proven the ecoboost has reliability issues. Even reliable forced air engines will need to have their turbos, supercharger, etc replaced. I just like simple direct motoring. I like have cubic inches in front of me, Rear wheel drive behind me and feedback from the steering wheel. I dont want boost guages, whistling, lagging turbos, just a rumble of direct power. Sure the ecoboost offers 365 HP 430lb ft of torque but how much power does the 3.5L offer once the turbos are toast? a lot less then a V8 with the same miles. Cars today are made disposable. So I wouldnt want something untested un refined and unreliable in the world of today. I`d take the Hemi over the Ecoboost any day of the week.
well manuals are pretty rare for most vehicles now so we hav to get over that. i dont see a problem with turbos and or non nat. asperated engines, so a big rig with its turbo diesel is unreliable? lol how are they much different other than size and having turbos? both have the Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT), and both are rather new engines, what if the 5.0 is **** after higher miles? i dont see all the fuss tho, its not like ford has never made a turbo for anything... lol take that!
you can compare a diesel big rig to a common truck, different designs different petrol, different compression ratios and different reliability. Diesel big rigs are designed for hundreds of thousand of miles. Most every day vehicles ill survive a 200,000 miles before an engine service is done. Has ford made reliable turbo engine, yes of course but the 3.5L ecoboost and the 1.6L ecoboost have proven to be unreliable, who knows how the 2l ecoboost will fair but ill but my faith into something thats already reliable beyond 40,000 miles.
true ik with the big rig what you mean but my point was that turbo doesnt necessarily mean unreliable. i see where your coming from then with the other ecoboosts not being reliable, but idk i think its such a kick ass idea why not get one? it would be under warranty for a long time and i few years in i think ford will get the kinks out. but i see you want something proven, i was something different. where the hell am i going with this lol i want ecoboost because i think they're badass and i want you to like them haha
remember the 6L Powerstroke. it was a POS, it was still under warranty and it didnt stop people trading up and giving up on their trucks. even after the kinks were fixed people didnt trust them. Look at the ecoboost 3.5L lots have running rough issues, not shifting beyong 4th gear and not being powerful enough to maintain 70 mph. Maybe whoever you know that owns one has a reliable one but why buy something that has a proven risk of being unreliable. Would you gamble on a Chevette, Yugo, Vega for the odd chance that one in a 100 is reliable. Hell no, and I wouldnt risk it on the ecoboost either.
yea very good points andy, i loose this argument but id still rock one. but the whos to say the trans problem isnt with your 5.0 too?
yea i dont doubt that at all man, thats all id probably be able to afford if i got a new truck anyway lol. its just the Ecoboost has got me so fired up!
