Timing belt

Oh boy, do I need some help....I have a 1998 Ranger; the timing belt broke about two months ago. My wife was driving the it at the time, and was able to immediately pull over. Had it towed to Pep Boys; their estimate was outrageous, so I decided to try it myself. Got it torn down, was able to remove the broken belt. Now, I learn that my Haynes manual is worthless, specifically on how to make sure the timing is set correctly, before I put everything back together. Could really, REALLY use some help. Come thru for me, and I'll wax your car once a month for the rest of my life.

Go to Amazon, order the FACTORY manual for YOUR TRUCK (and you might wanna go ahead and do the "express shipment" with this order).
Haynes has been more worthless than Chilton's for years.
Factory manual, your best bet.
...and which motor are we talking about 3.0L or 4.0L? Dealership told me 2.5L uses a chain, so it must be a v6?
