My truck must know I love electrical problems because as I soon as I fix one thing it throws something else at me.

I was just driving along and the check engine light came on. I have a ScanGauge II OBD scanner, so I plugged it in and it just says "connecting..." but never connects. I've scanned probably a dozen cars and this has never happened. The scanner never does connect, so I have no way to discover why the CEL is coming on.

I've checked the fuse that shares the circuit with the cigar lighter (?) and it's good. I changed it for good measure, no go. The cigar lighter works. I've gotten under the dash and nothing seems loose.

    Any help?

I had the same issue but mine was a fuse. Check the lighter wiring to see if the terminals are making a good contact and not touching somehow.
