Newbee with intake manifold question.....

I have a 2001 for ranger 4.0 4x4, the intake manifold is leaking air, gaskets need replacing, but they are also telling me the intake manifold itself should also be replaced when doing the gaskets, is this true? They want $330 to do the job.
I checked autp parts stores to get a price on the manifold and none of them even carry it!
gaskets are like $20. Just want to make sure I am not getting taken for a ride.
