What digit in the vin # tells the correct motor size when the truck was new?
for a 2002 xlt anywaysWhat digit in the vin # tells the correct motor size when the truck was new?
And if it does...... - What does that mean? You're saying 4 or 6 cylinder? And what if it doesn't have 1 of those??It should be the 4th-8th digit. See if you have a 4 or a 6 in those digits
Try going to vindecoderz.com. You can enter your VIN and they will break it down for you there. And if it does...... - What does that mean? You're saying 4 or 6 cylinder? And what if it doesn't have 1 of those??

I have a "C" in the 8th on my 2000 Supercab, which I guess means the 2.5L L4 engine cuz' that's what I have.It is the eighth character in the VIN. "V" indicates a 3.0L V6 VULCAN engine. I think "E" is a 4.0L, but not 100% sure of that.
Looks like an x on the 4.0 L. Just got one, nice sized motor for a rangerIt is the eighth character in the VIN. "V" indicates a 3.0L V6 VULCAN engine. I think "E" is a 4.0L, but not 100% sure of that.
