A word of caution on Hella lamp installations

I put Hella lamps behind my grille sometime ago. I used the supplied relay and fuse. Twice since I put them in, they just stopped working. Both times it was the fuse and its housing going to the power wire from the relay to the battery. I finally realized the power wire supplied by Hella along with the fuse housing was hot to the touch in 10 seconds of the lights being on. With this getting THAT hot, the fuse wasnt blowing.

I had to cut the supplied relay wires, connected it to a Ford OEM relay and use a thicker guage wire from the relay to the battery, and now have to tie in a heavy duty fuse with housing. So just a headsup guys, just in case this happens to you. The supplied power wires for Hellas arent very good so check them if you have them.

That's why I like my LEDs...no heat! And no inline fuse...although I did put one in. Unlike the Hellas, the LEDs only go 75 ft in front of the vehicles, but light up 6 ft on both sides of the vehicle...Hellas only light up a LOOONG beam in front of the vehicle.

Get the ff kit and it is a much wider beam. Thanks for the heads up Clinton. You gotta help me wire mine up soon. They have been sitting in a box in the closet for months.
