problem is that the 97 to the 99 is a diffrent generation and its hard to say that its the same wiring. Ford started adding more goodies in 98 and up. But from the buisness stand point its cheaper to produce the same wiring harness for all the models.

When ever I suspect fuel problems I always recommend to check the fuel filter. Its cheap and easy to replace. Then when you pull the old one, blow through the new one and then blow through the old one to check the resistance. If you cant blow through it then its bad. If that does not work...

fuel Couple of questions...Did you check the fuel pressure and how much do you have at the fuel rail. the port should be at end of the rail. It may not be getting enough volume. Also how old is the fuel filter that could be causing a problem.

Any one know if the DOHC Focus Ztec head will match up to the 2.3L block. If the water jackets hang over thats fine but will the bore, water jackets, and head bolts match up?

Adjustable pressure plate On some of the years there is also an adjustable pressure plate. If the mechanic did not notice this or adjust the pressure plate (new ones need to be set) then this could cause the chatter you are talking about as well.

From what I understand with my 1997 is that there is a hole behind the fender badges. I dont know how big the hole is but it should be there.
