    Fixing upholstery...

Anyone ever use fishing line to repair a torn seam on the seat? One of mine are splitting open. I thought about regular thread, but a seat can go through more stress than you might think, so I thought, maybe something stronger. More durable. I've got about 4000 yards of 2 lb. test. I figure it...

    2002 with very low miles

Welcome to the forum! Take good care of it, drive it like an adult, and don't drive it unless you have to. That's the best way I've found to keep any vehicle "nice" for a long period of time. Squeeze the hoses (I assume you're talking the radiator and heater hoses) when the engine is cold. Do...

    Engine pinging after shutting off

...you torqued down the push rods? As for the noise, is there a tin shield on the side of the exhaust manifold? Sometimes the change in heat between the engine running and not running causes that to expand and contract, and it can often make a ticking/popping noise like that.

    Cornfused

...and then there's THIS grille... ...pic courtesy of Wikipedia. Identifies it as 2001-2005 Ford Ranger (fender badge looks like it reads "XLT", which would make sense given the fancy schmancy wheels and side brush guard/step).

They used to say "EDGE" in a graphic on the side of the bed. If the bed's been replaced and/or the truck's been repainted, it could be the graphic is gone.

Looking to swap 2.3 for something with more zip. Got any suggestions.

Zappy Bear, Clarification - Ford Pinto's never used a 2.5L engine. My engine is based on the 2.3 that powered millions of Pinto's over the years of its production, but its not the "Pinto Engine", only based on it. The closest you could get, and still be correct, would be to call it a Stroked...

Looking to swap 2.3 for something with more zip. Got any suggestions.

There was a 2.5. '98-'01. Its a stroked "Pinto engine", and the engine you're running is the classic Pinto engine. Ford ported the 2.5's head and gave it bigger valves, too (and yes, that head fits your 2.3). I've got one in my '98. Its not much to write home about, but it would have a little...

    A little anniversary....

Your question has been answered, although I wouldn't call it much of an answer. Good luck with that and congrats on your own little anniversary. ...since yours is a stick, though, I have to ask.....is your truck hard to shift sometimes, too? Dean

    How fast in which gear?

Anyone ever notice if you've pulled a very high speed in any particular gear? The truck I call "Whitey Ford " has the 2.5L four cylinder engine with the 5 spd manual tranny and 3.45 gears in the rear end. I've pulled 62 mph in 3rd, which is a little over 4300 rpm. The other day, I had to hit it...

    RPMS

Do the RPM's drop to idle, just as you come to a stop? I get that from time to time. I used to get it all the time, but the more I drive my truck, the less that occurs. I've been told to pull the fresh air duct and spray carb cleaner / injector cleaner into the throttle body / intake. Don't know...

    Gas Tank

By rights, a tank is only supposed to fill to 95% capacity. The remaining 5% is supposed to be there for expansion and fumes dispersal. The problem is, regardless of make, some models list their tank capacity based on its physical size (i.e., "calculated capacity") while others account of the...
