seems like you need to change that o2 sensor clean your MAF and that should fix it, if it still doesnt act right. You could possible have a manifol leak, and you may need a new MAF,sensor

Its all mechanical in other words. With your current system when you shift into 4x4 from the switch it sends signal down to the vacuum line giving it a pulse to your hubs which goes to your transfer case. Well its something along those lines.

Exactly what DJ just stated above. They only made a vacuum line 4x4 engagement system on 97-2000 I believe and it failed miserably thats why they changed it. I had this problem on my truck and it left me stranded a couple times.
