It should look something like this...but number/character combination will be different. It's just a white sticker with the code on it, doesn't say anything about it being the PCM/ECU code.

Well, good question. My local Ford place had no idea where it was for the 01 Ranger. lol He just said it's normally by fusebox but I told him we already had that checked. Should be 4 digits though he was able to confirm.

Should be anywhere from a 3 to 5 digit code. I don't know specifically for Rangers but another common location is behind a plastic kickplate located in passenger footwell.

For a factory clean paint job, you can expect to pay $2500 on up, and if changing color completely and doing door jams, engine, ect ect, it closer to 4k on up.

I've had both 40 series and 44 series on various cars and to be honest, I wasn't able to tell the difference. Maybe if I heard them right next to each other I could but nadda. Speaking of, I just took a almost new 40 series off my 04 Mustang, I should post it up in classifieds as I only had it...

It's funny to see people's reaction to it in traffic, not uncommon to glance in my rear view mirror and see somebody hanging out their window trying to get a clear shot with their cell phone of it. 10k plus in mods on the car and it's the license plate that people like the most. Figures.... lol
