Best Bang for you dollar Mod

I pulled my floor mat out from under my gas pedal and waxed my headlights. The only problem is that I think I knocked my muffler bearings loose with the additional power.

    302 ?

I know that some of the "kits" require that the frame be notched out a little bit but I'm sure that there are newer versions that don't require that at all. I'm thinking about doing the same thing to my '97 but I'm going with solid mounts that I have left over from my circle track days and more...

    Valve Covers

You don't want cheap valve covers. If you're going in there make sure it's only once for the next 150k. You'd be surprised, check out Ford's prices.

    302 ?

You need a big shoehorn and a reciprocating saw. It should take about 10 minutes. Seriously, it's not all that hard and there are a lot of different ways to do it. Just surf around a little and you should find numerous write ups on it. It has become so common that there are used swap parts...

    97 4x4 front axle

nicely done, description, pics, I don't have a 4x4 but if I needed to work on one this would be extremely helpful. Hope the project is going well.

    exhaust system?

I'd say keep the "y" and go 2.5 with a Borla. That's what is on my dad's s-cab and it sounds pretty awesome. The only problem is that he has lost some power due to the lower backpressure. If you want to keep the grunt you may want to consider a Dynomax super turbo. It's not as loud but it...

    RABS problem 1997 Ranger

oooh, someone with a CD full of Ranger info.......Maybe someday I'll ask what all they say causes my ABS light to stay on all of the time and then why my check engine light comes on and off and on and off. Then maybe I can pull the electrical tape off of my dash........:D

    Ford Ranger History

Okay, I have to admit this.....I was going through some old sketch books of mine and I found a sketch I did of a Saleen Ranger. They actually had a racing series at the time that I think was sponsored by General Tires and as you can tell, Steve Saleen was really bored. I think the only place...

    Electric Ranger

there is no substitution for cubic inches...........period.... I only wish that I lived 6-10 miles from my job but alas, I enjoy living in the country so I make a 64 mile round trip every day and my little 2.3 gets better than 400 miles on a tank of dead dinosaurs which suits me just...

Question on engines for 84 ranger

I'm not positive but I don't think so. I love those 2.8's and I know that as of a couple years ago you could still buy them reman. I know this because my dad sold his 84 to a guy that let his son run it into the ground and blew the motor so the guy took it back, put in a new motor, had it...

    Overheated -now won't start

As Bill said, find a reliable machine shop and have all of that done to the head. You might also want to have new cam bearings and a new cam installed along with new followers, this stuff is not expensive. These 2.3's are very reliable motors, the bottom end looks almost identical to a 302 and...

    RABS problem 1997 Ranger

don't start it with the brake on, or push the brake while it's running and you're good... Just kidding, it takes some time to get an answer as pointed out due to this being a new site and although I don't have a clue, somebody does.

Question on engines for 84 ranger

um.........no, you do not have an 8.4 liter in your '84 Ranger........although if you do I'd love to see it........... You might have a 2.8 that is a solid lift v-6 usually only found in Ford Capris and I don't think that anything else bolts up to it.

    Drive belt place replacement

Replace the tensioner and it's not that hard at all to replace the timing belt and they are sooooo cheap. I'm sure there are detailed instructions out there somewhere and the belts are around $20 at the most. We used to race 2.3's and always carried a couple spares (tensioners and tb's)

    98 ext. cab question...

I'll post up some pics of my dad's '99 suicide door ex. cab. Sometimes he really knows how to piss me off. He just picked up a '99 stepside with 105 on the clock, 3.0, auto, everything, for $4500.
