Is my TPS going out?

    My 88 Ranger has this issue on ocassion when i get on it to get up to speed. when i go to change gears, it hits 4000 rpms for about 2-4 seconds. do i need to replace my tps?

    it might be the idle air control motor and tps.

    I have an issue and was thinking it is the Idle Control Value. It will start, but engine flutters, sometime dies then will clear up and run good until I shut it off for a hour or so. I cleaned the Idle control Value, but it still does it. Hope some one reads this and suggest what the problem is.
