I've got an issue hopefully you guys can help me with. My 2002 Ranger has the 4.0L engine with a automatic transmission & its 4wd. Yesterday the drive & reverse gears went out of it. I still have low & second gear, & it will shift into drive when the pressure builds up enough, but it won't start out in drive. Anybody have a clue what's going on with this thing? I'm not a transmission expert. Thanks

Well guys the old girl is going to the transmission shop tomorrow. I learned a very valuable lesson, never let your wife drive your truck Can't wait to get her fixed & back on the road again.

Tomorrow is the big day! I'm supposed to be getting my truck back, hopefully with a bullet proof transmission. Can't wait!!

Well fellas things haven't gone so good. I got my truck back, drove it 2 days and it got stuck in 2nd gear, wouldn't shift into drive. The shop that rebuilt the tranny thinks the valve is sticking so they are tearing back apart. Hopefully I'll have it sometime next week. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed!! Also, I've been eyeballing a set of Spyder headlights & tail lights. Has anybody tried these yet??

Just ran across this and read your posts. Sorry about your tranny, man. I'm sure the shop will get it sorted for you and you'll be back on the road soon. I don't have any personal experience with Spyder headlights, but reviews are pretty good for fitment and quality, so as long as your wallet can handle it, you should be good. Smoked, black or chrome?

Thanks mhoward! I sure hope they get it straightened out this time. I'm interested in the black for the headlights & tail lights. Thought they would make a nice change in the appearance

I've seen the blacked heads and tails on the blue Rangers. Looks good!

Well hopefully tomorrow will be a good day. I'm supposed to get my truck back. This makes the 3rd time it's been in the tranny shop. They keep getting bad valve bodies. The truck gets stuck in 2nd gear & won't shift into drive. I guess we'll see how well it works this time!!

Thanks mhoward!! I absolutely am. Fortunately I've been off work during this whole ordeal. I start back at a new location this Wed & it's only about 15 min from my house, so I guess I'll get to break it back in slowly.

Believe me, that doesn't happen very often. 1 1/2hrs 1 way is the norm for me. Luckily the truck is doing very well. Keeping my fingers crossed

The throat is conncted to the tranbsmision . If this gets out of alinement it will not shift . As the transmisson does not know the rpm of the moter . Do some reseach and find out how to reagyst the linkage between the throtte and the transmition . And you will be good to go . Is not a transition problem as would suggst.
