Let me know how that mod goes, I have the same truck and been thinking of doing it. I have the drivers side like to lock up when in 4x4 and really annoys me.
Well I bought the truck off my friend a few months ago and he had them on but after awhile they burned out so i put the autos back on just for the smooth ride again but they burned out cuz i forgot to grease them so ill be putting them back in, they work just fine, not sure what he did to get them to work but now all i have to just is slide them in and go
