Hey guys, maybe somebody can help me out here. I have a 1994 ranger 4.0 automatic with hubs and push button 4x4. Last week, the truck went into 4x4 fine, then when i tried to use it yesterday it wouldnt go in and i have no idea why. Hopefully someone can help me out here.

First thing you need to do is determine if its a hub issue or transfercase issue. The easy way is to have a friend watch the axles or driveshaft and slowly move the truck. Or, you can put the entire truck on jack stands, engage 4wd and watch the drivetrain. I would bet its the auto locking hubs. Them things are garbage.
It always worked fine up until a week ago, and since i noticed it i have tried to engage it a few times with no luck. And it has manual hubs, sorry for the misunderstanding.
I think it has something to do with the switch i'll see if I can pick one up at the junkyard this weekend
94 ranger i have a 94 ranger 4.0 4wd, i have the same problem, sometimes the 4wd engages by itself, the truck makes a fast clicking sound when this happens. i am still clueless if its a solinoid or where it is located. i could really use some help on this one, i am not good with 4wd.
Them electronic transfer cases are the most worthless heap imagined. with a manual transfer case, a man wouldn't have all these issues. I was over in the hart mountain wildlife refuge with my dad on a trip a couple years ago. His F-250 had an electronic t-case. we hit this jeep trail by accident and we couldn't turn around or nothin. we tried to hit 4 low, but it wouldn't shift. we tried and tried, we finally got 4 high, but that was a rough 3 hrs. when we hit gravel again finally, we tried it and hit 4 low. those things are trash. i hate them. i hate trusting computers too.
