Well I have decided its time to upgrade my current setup with better stuff so here goes. This will be done in parts over a couple months since like the majority of us I cant afford to do it all at once.

Head Unit (I ordered today should be here tomorrow) I paid 178 Shipped.

New Components for Mids and Highs (Replacing Infinity Reference 5x7s)

Small 4 Channel Amp (45x4 RMS Also its small enough to go behind the dash 45w aint High but it will be a lot better than the 14w rms from the head unit and will power the speakers nicely)

The New 10" Sub (Replacing a 12" MTX Thunder 4500, I have not made my mind up on the box yet but most likely be made by a guy at work)

My existing amp This amp will stay the same because its in good shape and has not been over driven and should power the sub nicely.

I will also be sound deadening my truck the cheap way a few people have done it with good results so I will be using the aluminum stick on insulation flashing stuff from Lowes (not sure of the name). I will double it up since its slightly thinner than Dynomat. when doubled its slightly thicker than dynomat.

I am not trying to have over powering bass or competition stuff I just want it to sound nice and crisp and clean driving down the road.

This came this morning. only 18 hours from time of order until the UPS man rang the bell

2 hours later I soldered all the wire up and ran the microphone wire and had everything working. I just have to remove the stupid stickers on the faceplate.

Also I made a couple test phone calls and I hear the other person perfect and they hear me perfect with no echo or any indication I'm using a hands free device.

What I did today. I got the back wall done in 3 layers and the sides done with 2 layers.

The product I'm using is Peel and Seal from Lowes $16.01 a roll. I used One roll on each door and the back took 3 and a half rolls. I will be doing the Rest of the floor with 3 layers and also some Mass Loaded Vinyl or very dense closed cell foam.

So far the bass response is alot different as well as the mids and highs are cleaner. Road noise has been reduces some mostly its passing traffic that is quieter. My exhaust doesnt resonate as bad but then again I dont have the floor or firewall done yet. Im trying to get the truck as quiet as possible. Also I may do the roof sometime.

Also on the outside the music turned all the way up is fairly quiet.

I did add more to it after taking this picture but forgot to take a finished photo. I will all be taken back apart and I will post a finished picture

nice man i like that you came up with a way to quiet the cab without using the traditional products like dynamat. i might tackle this project this summer. thanks for posting this and giving this alternative. nice work by the way.

I can not stand the one knob just left of center look on the decks these days :( 2 knobs FTW! :)

You might try the expanding foam for the roof. It worked great on my truck. Just dont go to much, if you think you dont have enough, you do!

It's gonna be awesome when it's done. From what I hear you may have a slight smell from the product but from what I have heard the smell if any goes away within a couple of weeks. Mine has a slight smell earlier but it's cause it's fresh and was 90 degrees out today and the truck was in full sun closed up all day. But tonight when I got in it I barely noticed any smell.

Hmm I may have to look into that. Thanks for the heads up.

Reminds me of my moms old stereo from the 70s/80s.

    Btm757,
    Sound like a nice setup.
I have always gone for the Pioneer Radios and Speakers.
This time around I am doing all Pioneer including the amps and Sub.
