Last week was fun. Monday my camshaft synchronizer went out. Usually they start to chirp. But no, my Ranger had to make a grinding sound as well, which wasn't the sound I wanted to hear from my truck this week. I had to spend the majority of my holiday pay at Ford for the cam sync, which pissed me off. I replaced the cam sync on Tuesday, and no more chirp or grinding, hooray. Then Saturday I get a call from my buddy telling me that his lug studs broke and that his wheel fell off his truck, and he isn't really sure what to do with his truck. I go over to his house where he had the truck towed, and I show him how to pull the rear axle out. The problem is, somehow his rear differential case has gear marks in it that match the ring gear. I still don't know how that happened. We pulled the pinion shaft retaining bolt out, and after making sure it was completely out, we proceeded to try and remove the pinion shaft to get to the c-clip. But the pinion shaft refuses to budge. At this point I had to go to work, so I don't know if he was able to get it out or not. And then today, another friend of mine comes over with his new 85 F350. He was talking about his headlights not working, and how he thinks it may be the pin on the headlight switch. I had an extra headlight switch from an 85 F250 that I decided to swap in to see if that helps. Not only did that make no difference, when we swapped the old switch back in, he lost all of his outside marker lights. For the next hour I fumbled with the light switch trying to figure out what went wrong. Finally I figured out that a wire fell out of his connector, and that two of his fuses were blown. Fixed the wire and the fuses, and he got all his lights back. AND THEN, ANOTHER friend of mine calls me up and asks me to come help him with the rear brakes on his girlfriend's Mustang. The piston on the caliper wouldn't go back in, and he thought they were bad. I get there and realized the pistons were the screw and push type, and after showing him how to get the piston back in, he had the brakes done in no time. So this week I have had to work on four different vehicles, ranging in from severe to moderate problems. I love working on vehicles, but I hate them at the same time.
ik!!!! that thing was sweet! i think it all worked out for him with what he gave him, plus he got the stang for the night lol
