Just thought I'd stir the pot a bit and ask what weight oil is being used. :shifty: I'm on the west coast and it very seldom ever gets down to freezing in the winter but it does get hot in the summer. Manual says use 5W30 but was considering using 10W40 Royal purple. What are your thoughts?

I'm going to probably go with a 10W30? After checking numerious sights, I don't think I'll need the 40 weight. Being an "Old Schooler" it's hard to get use to using these thin oils. I'm also seeing that Pennzoil Platinum measures up pretty well. :thumbup1: Thanks for your input!
I know of a guy that uses 0W30 in Fl. temps! I myself wouldn't go that light in a truck. Ford recommended 5W30 in 1992 and later in RBV's.
Gotcha. I've heard with some of the older cars you can run thicker oil, but on a 2004 I would think the thinner oils work.
I use 10/30 Valvoline High mileage Max Life In my 94 with the v6 3.0 I use 10/30 Valvoline High mileage. I actually use it in all my vehicles. Never had a problem with it. I live in Michigan, and it gets pretty cold. I run 10/30 both in the summer and in the winter.
