    3.0 Misfire

It sure is nice to have it running right again, after the top end rebuild I am getting 22.6 miles per gallon.

    seat swaps what works?

I hate the black and red buckets in my 2005 STX Ranger ( extended cab ) they are very uncomfortable on long trips. I found 60 /40 seats at a wrecking yard in a 2005 XLT Ranger. Will they bolt up to the rails in my STX ?

Seats that will fit your Ranger

I have a 2005 STX with buckets and a center console, I went to a wrecking looking to buy a new center console but they only had 2005's XLT's with the 60 / 40 seats. I would rather have the 60 / 40 seats because the buckets are very uncomfortable. Will they fit my STX ? That way I could eliminate...

    3.0 Misfire

I finally found out what was really wrong with my Ranger. I took it to Mexico and got a top end rebuild. Ford had never put a bolt in the end of the exhaust manifold right by number 3 cylinder. The mechanic that rebuilt the heads called me and showed me the # 3 exhaust valve. It was slightly...

    3.0 Misfire

Well, I finally fixed it. After putting a LOT of money and time I knew it was not a valve after doing a leak down and compression test and it would run perfect until it warmed up and I could drive it a hundred miles with no codes, it was when I stopped at a red light or a stop sign it the check...

    3.0 Misfire

I did a leak down test on # 3 cylinder today and it passed in flying colors. I pulled the plenum again and looked for cracks in the plastic but it looks great. I didn't think it was a valve because it runs great at startup. It is when it idles after warm up I get a misfire.

    3.0 Misfire

I smoke tested it twice and no vacuum leaks, it only misses and shakes at low RPM at 1000 it runs great. the lower the RPM the worse it runs. I may be wrong but I think if it was a burnt valve it would run bad all the time. I just took it out and drove it 100 mph for about 5 miles and it ran...

    3.0 Misfire

You may be right, a friend of mine bought a F250 and brought it over for me to look at because it had a misfire. I scanned it and found the cylinder and pulled the plug, the plug looked fine, I got some anti seize and was going to put the plug back in and felt the threads in the hole and part of...

    3.0 Misfire

I read this too, never knew this. The Fuel Tank level must be above 15% for misfire monitor operation. It’s not uncommon to be working on a vehicle that’s low on fuel, but if the fuel level is less than 15%, misfire monitoring is suspended

    3.0 Misfire

I just read this on a forum that is called Diagnosing Ford Misfires Many techs have wondered why on some Fords the Check Engine light does not come on right away when a misfire is present. This is primarily due to the misfire count not exceeding the limit. But there’s another way Ford protects...

    3.0 Misfire

I cleared the PCM and separated the catalytic converter from the exhaust pipe with a long socket to see if it was stopped up, it ran good then p0303 came up. I also put a new oxygen sensor on that side and cleared the PCM again and after driving down the road the same code came back. It runs...

    3.0 Misfire

My 2005 Ranger with a 3.0 has a misfire, P0303. When the engine is cold it starts up and runs great, after I drive it a while and get into stop and go traffic it has a miss and eventually the check engine light comes on. So far I have replaced the following items: Fuel pump and filter Coil...
