I have a 2004 Ranger XLT 4.0 2WD extended cab with a little over 50,000 miles. 99.9% street driven. No lift or over sized tires. What is everyone using and why? There are a lot of choices. Just need a good all around unit.
Thanks!
The wires, besides being a bugger to get to were also almost part of the plug. :furious: Even using plug wire removal pliers they were tuff and it's not that difficult to probably brake a wire? Because of the heat generated under the hood and the trouble removing them it would probably be best...
Here I go again. :euro: I'm about ready to change the original plugs in my '04 Ranger with 4.0 V-6. At 50,000 miles the center electrode seems to be worn fairly well. Is there a better replacement than the Motorcraft? This is being driven both around town and highway. It isn't giving me any...
I'm going to probably go with a 10W30? After checking numerious sights, I don't think I'll need the 40 weight. Being an "Old Schooler" it's hard to get use to using these thin oils.
I'm also seeing that Pennzoil Platinum measures up pretty well. :thumbup1:
Thanks for your input!
Just thought I'd stir the pot a bit and ask what weight oil is being used. :shifty: I'm on the west coast and it very seldom ever gets down to freezing in the winter but it does get hot in the summer. Manual says use 5W30 but was considering using 10W40 Royal purple. What are your thoughts?
Thanks for your input! I finally settled for an '04 with aiutomatic. It's OK but would have prefered the stick. Now I'm going to get a case of lazy left leg syndrom.

Just took the bed liner out of my 04 to install a camper shell / topper. Who makes a bed mat similar to the factory mat without the hi cost? Thanks in advance for any comments or assistance.
Thanks Portland! Gald to be aboard!
I hope not to have any problems when I finally find the right Ranger but it's great to have a group of enthusiasts with a lot of ideas.

I've been looking for two months for a 2003 to 2006 Ranger 2wd with a 5 speed manual trans. and 4.0 V-6 to replace a 1990 Toyota 4 cyl. pickup. To this date I've only found one with the 4.0 and 5 speed. Are they that few and far between or is it that no one is selling there pride and joy...
I've been a long time and I mean a long time Ford nut since I knew what a car was. (50 + years) I've had my share of all different models and years and presenly have a '41 Ford Hot Rod with a FORD 351 W motor. I have a '05 Mustang V-8 stick that's my wifes car and and '08 Ford F-350 Super Duty...
