I know in the past, with my ex's Explorer-- I could spray it with carb cleaner or seafoam and get it to operate another year or two. ..I just realize your post was in 2014. What did you end up doing, and how'd that go?

I have a 99 2wd, 2.5/5speed. Similar issues, but occasionally will crank/start/die. I know my ex's Explorer would do this/similar, and it ended up being the Idle Air Control. I'd have to clean it every couple years. . A few cranks, and it will start again, or little "ether" will speed this...
