I got myself a 1993 Ranger on Friday, and as I was cleaning it up I discovered some weirdness with the headlights switch. The three positions I expected Full in = Off 1st click out = parking lights, dash lights 2nd click out = headlights on, dash lights What I got Full in = Off 1st click out = NO parking lights, NO dash lights 2nd click out = headlights on, NO dash lights Fiddling around, I noticed halfway between all out and 1 click out, I get what I should have at 1 click I figured it was a bad switch, so I ran out and picked one of these up, and it does the same thing. It replaced a Motorcraft part, so I don't think it is because this one is an aftermarket part. I really do not even know where to start with this, any suggestions? Sorry, the forum wouldn't let me link the part directly, I got a BWD Headlight Switch Part # S2004 which Advance Auto said was an exact fit... UPDATE: I took a multimeter to the fuses while they were still in the block and all had continuity, so I did not think anything of it. My son was a bit more thorough, he pulled them all out and noticed one of them related to the headlights was corroded. He replaced the fuse and used a small file to clean the socket, and all is working now!
