Started having hard shifting around 12mph. So I took my truck to autozone and had them pull the code: p1744 which says It is the torque convert clutch solenoid circut performane CTO is not within limits. doing a bit of research I am assuming I will have to change the solenoid. Is this a difficult fix? I am also having a hard time finding any reasonable prices parts. Also is there multiple solenoids and will they all need replacing or will I have to diagnosis which which has run a foul? I have a 97 XLT 4.0 2wd, 5r55e 5spd auto transmission with O/D. Thanks

More looking will have to be done to know for sure, but I think you pull the pan, remove the filter, unplug the solenoid and unbolt it. I'll get some instructions from somewhere and post them. I'd suggest replacing the filter while the pan is off. Make sure you clean the grit off the bottom too.
