I purchased a 2000 FR XLT Flareside 4x4 (7 ft bed), with 86k miles on it (3.0 V6). The frame is cracked on the driver's side just behind the bed, and the bed is also almost unusable due to the rust. Ive had the bed (underside) and the truck frame blasted to see all the damage. My question is this-should I just abandon trying to save the truck, and swap the motor into something with a better frame? Ive found a southern owned (no rust) Ranger with a 4cyl and 149k miles-is the engine swap from the 4 cyl to the 3.0 fairly simple?
