Is this something that's easy enough to do in a driveway? Trucks at the dealer getting an oil change. Say my lower ball joints are wore out. Want $78 for the ball joints and 2 hours of labour at $80 an hour. So, can this be done at home. By myself. Or with my dad.

Not a bad deal . And yes you can do it , just rent a press from autozone . And look on YouTube if your not sure what to do
No autozones here haha. Depending on weather I may just let the dealer do it. No garage so I'd be out in the open. Thanks though. Oh, and that $78 an 2 hours labor includes an alignment.
ok, so, got them to email me an estimate its $80 PER ball joint. so $160 for both. and 2.5 hours labour, total cost $400. seems WAY to much to me. especially when i can get Moog ball joints off amazin for $30 a piece. idk. thinking about doing this myself. cept i have no warm indoor area to work on it.
That's still not a bad price at all....if you want buy the bjs yourself and have the dealer install them
probably either do that or throw a heater in my brothers barn and do it on my holidays/ i can buy moogs on amazon for $30 a piece are moog's good?
anyone got a part number on the moog's i need? dont trust amazon to tell me which ones are right lol should get this done soon, next pay check will be a nice one.
is this the right part for lower ball joint? [ame]http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CA228U[/ame] according to amazon it is, but they've been wrong before lol
Oh, and will I need an alignment? So many people have different opinions on it. I just had an alignment when I cranked my bars a bit in July.
okey dokey. bj's ordered. total came to $106 after shipping. ouch. but still better than OEM ford, at $78 A PIECE lol got the moog problem solvers with the grease zerk. watched a video on youtube on how to do it, stupid simple. so ill be doing them myself. will rent a bj press, and spend a little bit of time, and $100 instead of 3-4 hours at the dealer and $400 lol
ok, just cancelled my order for moogs through amazon. ****ers werent estimated to be shipped till january 30th - march 4th thats not gonna work lol. so... anyone have any other ideas? rockauto had good prices, hopefully their shipping isnt insane and ive heard people saying in another forum im on, to not go with moogs, and to go with raybestos anyone here run those?
Rock auto shipping is super quick....when I ordered the master cylinder for my car I got it in 2 days
Just a heads up for anyone who reads this in the future...I just did lower balljoints in my 03 2wd w torsion bars. DO NOT get the MOOG problem solver lower balljoints if this is first or second time someone is changing lower balljoints on your truck.. The MOOG prob solver lowers are slightly larger diameter to compensate for multiple balljoint changes in the same control arm. They are a royal BIATCH to force into the control arms on your first balljoint change. I needed a balljoint press, a 5 lb Hammer and a floor jack.
