How To: Replace EGR Vacuum Regulator Solenoid (4.0 SOHC Only)

In this How to, You will learn how to replace an EGR Vacuum Regulator Solenoid on a 4.0 SOHC.

Tools required:
Small ratchet & 9/32 socket


Step 1.

Disconnect your negative battery terminal.

Step 2.

Using your ratchet and 9/32 socket, Remove your throttle cover.

Step 3.

Locate the EGR Vacuum Regulator Solenoid. The solenoid is directly behind your EGR valve. Disconnect the electrical connector, then disconnect the 2 vacuum hoses on the bottom.

Step 4.

Once you have disconnected all vacuum hoses and the electrical connector, using your ratchet and 9/32 socket, remove the 2 bolts holding the solenoid to the side of the intake manifold. Remove the solenoid.

Step 5.

Mount the new Solenoid in reverse order of instructions, and re-attach your battery negative terminal.

Congratulations! You have successfully changed out your EGR Vacuum Regulator Solenoid!
