Hello all, I have a 2000 Ford Ranger 4x4 XLT FF 3.0 v6 with a dead transmission, online i think I need a 4r44e transmission but everywhere says that's for 2wd but I need one for a 4wd, any help on regards to which transmission I need would be greatly appreciated!!

If your tranny shifts itself, then according to this Auto Zone Page, it is indeed a 4r44e transmission...you will need your VIN # handy, in order to receive the correct version of this tranny, though.

I just replaced my 2000 ford ranger 3.0 4x4 trans the company I ordered mine from off line and they sent me a 2wd and told me it would work some how they shipped the wrong one , I had to use my output shaft and output shaft housing and I had to change my filter and pan and the insides are the same , so we will see,,i replaced trans in vehicles before this is the first I torn apart a trans to change the output shaft ….and my neutral safety switch was frozen on the shaft so I used a Dremel and had to cut it off the shaft and used my other one , when I dropped it into drive there was a delay then it would caught in and go when I ripped it apart the forward drive clutch plates were fryed so I have a backup trans now
