Hello everyone, I am a new mechanic and I do towing on the side, one of my customers who is a personal friend had gave me his old 97 Ranger(3.0L 4 cyl RWD) and I’ve had it for a couple months and I want to swap out the old engine. I want to do a 5.0 swap so take the v6 out and put a v8 in. I have a couple of questions. What car should i get the engine from and will it need a transmission as well and what else would have to change in order for it to work. If i could get some options it would be appreciated, thank you

Get another tranny with the engine.
Anything built to sit behind a 3.0L v6 won't have the beef needed to be reliable behid the v8.
...besides, I don't think it will be a straight swap.
    Have you considered 4.0L V6?
VERY powerful engines and pretty much a dead straight swap out with the 3.0L.
