The differences are subtle yet it seems the side mirrors, manual and power, did change a bit with the Ranger. I think there was a change in 2006 to mirrors that (from all appearances) were horizontally larger to accommodate for towing. My 2004 mirrors have either taken a beating at the carwash or they have worn out. Either way, I was thinking that if the mirrors were dead (although by appearance, they are in great condition), I would replace them with the wider 2006 and up versions. The question: Has anyone attempted this upgrade? If so, are the 2006 and up better? Regrets? Does the swap require a lot of modification? (I watch too much Y**Tube.)

Here's what the connectors look like in the 2006 model. This was the first year of the larger more angular mirror.
Yes. Your statement echoes what some are saying on Y**tube. The diagram is a plus. Thanks. By appearances, it seems the only difference in the connections is in the wire colors. So its pretty much a plug-and-play deal. Ah, now I am thinking of changing them just for the heck of it.
I replaced the power mirrors on my 94 with the square mirrors. it required some detective work to figure out what wire did what and I had to swap the mirrors to the old harness of my 94. Don't regret it. I think they look better. I got brand new ones from Rockauto for about $25.00 apiece two years ago.
