motor size?

    What digit in the vin # tells the correct motor size when the truck was new?

    It is the eighth character in the VIN. "V" indicates a 3.0L V6 VULCAN engine. I think "E" is a 4.0L, but not 100% sure of that.

    And if it does...... - What does that mean? You're saying 4 or 6 cylinder? And what if it doesn't have 1 of those??

    Try going to vindecoderz.com. You can enter your VIN and they will break it down for you there.

    Yeah , I know that..... For what?? $15-20 / don't need all info their offering(individual) just need engine size! That was All. Thanx

    I have an 02' XLT but it is currently in the shop. I'll check out my VIN when I get it back

    I have a "C" in the 8th on my 2000 Supercab, which I guess means the 2.5L L4 engine cuz' that's what I have.

    Looks like an x on the 4.0 L. Just got one,nice sized motor for a ranger

    Actually i just thought about it,that may not be correct,because that motor was put in later. Sorry bout tgat
