Has anybody installed cone type air filter on 4 L Ranger. Does is whistle or have that deep
breathing sound? I have to cut my air box to install one. Mine does mot unbolt like some do.
Before I hack the tube up I'd like a sound or sanity check.

Their should be some way of disconnecting your airfilter to replace it. It is recomended to replace It every 10-15k miles so I wouldn't cut it. My 1997 XLT has a clip at the filter. Have you tried doing a YouTube search for your model year?

Yea. They all seem to have the 4 bolt cover that come off the air box. Mine's molded on. I have not seen any others like it. The lid
comes off to replace the filter and you can remove the snorkel from the air box by loosening the clamp. There is just no way to remove
the fitting that attaches the tube to the air box. The tube has the MAF in it and is clamped on to the air box.
