Hey guys! New here...My 2006 Ranger XLT 4 banger's throttle response is off and inconsistent.

Some days it seems crisp and immediate. Other days it seems like it's bogged down and takes a few seconds to really get going. All of this is from coming off red lights at a normal pace (no wot).

The only thing I have done so far to try and fix this is the throttle cable mod which seemed to work for a little while. Idle RPM'S are at slightly above 750 if I'm reading it right.

I've had a K&N drop in filter for years without any real problems. Flowmaster muffler...no problems. No lead foot.

    Also the CEL isn't on.

    Any ideas?

I had this same problem for about a year on my 2003 Ford Ranger V6. I replaced my spark plugs and wires to a newer aftermarket version and noticed immediate response. The sluggish reaction to throttle is caused worn and/ or dirty spark plugs. Hope this helps!
