i have a 04 ranger 3.0. its not loud, and being young, i want it to sound ***y. i was thinking of cutting off the muffler and throw all the metal out. but it has been brought to my attention it might be to loud. if i cut out the muffler and welded a peice of steel pipe will it still be insanely loud? and will i get any more power? and will i get a ticket for it being to loud if it is. i live in los angeles, cali.

I never heard of getting a ticket because your vehicle was to loud. You have a 3.0 it cant be that loud. My 5.4 had a flow master 40 on it and that sucker was loud, you could hear me get on it from a mile away, and I never got a ticket and always floored it past cops, not the best idea there, but still never got a ticket.
it will be stupid annoying with no muffler lol. get an MBRP or flowmaster 40 muffler. and you can get a ticket for being to loud in most places, will be something like a "disturbing the peace" ticket. some palces are more strict about it than others, and if the cops get a complaint, they have to follow up on it.
