Just bought a '98 XLT 2wd 4.0 for my son. 90,000+ miles. Automatic transmission. No dents. Overall reasonably good condition. At this time it just has a couple of dash lights going on. Already solved the common 'Door Ajar' gremlin with some WD-40 in the door latch. Anyway I'll just be lurking in the background, reading all I can, learning as much as I can about this neat little truck.

Here it is: As you can see, the tires need replacement and the black paint is faded, but not worn out. I will buff it out in the coming weeks and clean the stock 15" wheels as best I can. * * * * * *
welcome to the forum man, that truck was a nice find, interiors clean and the body looks great too! if you're looking to buff the paint out, i would suggest meguires ultimate compound, followed with a good paste wax. i used that compound on both my truck and my buddie's mazda B series, both black and both hadin't been waxed in about 10 years, brought the paint right back to life.
Thanks for the tip. I had already bought something called 'Color Magic' made by Turtle Wax based on a local recommendation. It's made for black paint and supposed to be a polish. We'll see. If it turns out to be junk I'll definitely try the Mequires.
