I have heard of people successfully blocking the EGR valve. It will not gain you "HP/performance/MPG", and the fact that you think it might displays a wonderful lack of understanding of how EGR works. For one thing, it only kicks in when you are cruising and don't need full engine power.

Hmm, what have we here... Someone left this spiffy looking engine in my truck. Bat rastard also left a wonderful mess for me to wire up. But now it lives.

I'd say congrats, but I consider the purchase of property in California to be one of the worst uses of money available, what with the ridiculous CARB laws and such.
