So we tore this engine (96' 3.0) apart 2 years ago and rebuilt it, but there is a threaded hole in the left side of the block just behind the timing cover and we don't know what is supposed to go there. I am guessing it may be a pipe threaded plug. Can someone help me out here? If you need a picture, I can upload one.

Not bunch of punk here, Mark K. I believe those bolt hose for from casting of the blocks. You got to have a way to move it around on the line.
I'm not sure what it's for, but if you can see the crank, I'm betting you just need to put a plug in it, sealed of course. Sorry I can't be more help, but nobody seems to answer on this forum.
