i decided that im going to sell my truck at the end of high school and upgrade to a different ranger for college. one of my big reasons is that im going to michigan for school where the winters are a lot worse than ct and im sure my 2wd would have a tough time getting around. i also hate my regular cab. i also plan on doing some light wheeling up in mi. my wish list for my new ranger would be 4.0, 4wd, extended cab, 01+, and red, green, or black for color. or i would do a front end swap to get the honeycomb grille. im overall regretting buying my ranger it has heavy frame rust, ive already put 400 into just maintenance.

yea im coming up there on the 12th to visit all the colleges and visit the family. i have a ton of family in michigan. i already love it so much more than connectiuct. i cant wait to get the hell out of this state haha. hopefully i can get close to 3k for my truck. and ill be able to save 1000-1500 over the year. then ill just bring safety and that i need a 4wd up there to sell my parents on the idea. and i hope to hit silver lake sometime because that looked awesome.

tell u the truth the amount of weather we get here u would be a fool to not have a 4wd in case something happened. u have to also look at it for a safety point of view not just a fun point of view

something to keep in mind, the '98 and some '99 ranger 4x4's have the less reliable vacume hubs that always seem to quit when you need them most.

sounds like a good plan to upgrade though man!

yea thats the side im going to work on parents. my dad grew up there so he knows about the weather. i think we just bought my truck because it was such a good deal and had really low miles. so now im going to stick to mods that i can convert back to stock when i sell it and put them on my new truck. like my amp, 06+ mirrors, etc.

we sunk my buddie's '98 B3000 up to the rocker panels in snow up on his property, PVH hubs failed. i'm so damn happy my truck dosin't have them, it must've cut it close with the build date.

All 98-2000 Rangers have this if you get this year best thing to do is switch to manual hubs or take the metal T clip out of both your front hubs and problem fixed. And they will leave you stuck on the middle of a hill or road never fails

what do you guys think my mileage cut off should be. i got mine with 39k but i know that was very rare. im thinking as close i can get to 100k. since these trucks are known to run forever if properly maintained.

a 2000-03 your mileage cut off should be 75k, but good luck with that these year trucks will run you 5-7k easily. Best time to buy is in the summer

yea im thinking about getting a 98-00 and just doing a front end swap eventually on it. i think a 01-03 is out of my price range. how expensive is it to switch to manual hubs?

my '00 dosin't have 'em... from what i've seen they stopped using the vaccum hubs early in the '00 model year.

wait until the price of gas rises again if you can since the value for your truck might go up a bit more (not much though) and the price for a 4L 4x4 will be lower.

true but the closer it gets to winter im worried that the price of my truck will go down and the price of a 4x4 will go up.
